Quantitative approaches
Datasets exist that can tell us part of the story, but they are disconnected and incomplete.
Therefore, there is no single source of truth – no central dataset that can be mined to try and come to a solution to the wicked social problem of domestic and family violence.
It is currently impossible to step back and see the full picture of domestic and family violence service accessibility and effectiveness, without a concerted effort to:
Extract and analyse existing datasets
Refine, test and scale further measures to address the gaps
Better understand the factors that influence key measures of service accessibility and effectiveness, and how they interact and influence each other.
A core part of our work is looking at what data are already being collected, and exploring what they reveal about the need, demand, supply, capacity and impact for these services.
